Francis Bamford is a young English countertenor currently based in Manchester. He recently studied on the Postgraduate Diploma course at the Royal Northern College of Music, generously supported by the Drapers’ de Turckheim Scholarship and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation. Francis previously trained at the Royal College of Music, graduating with Distinction from the Master of Music course, and St John’s College Cambridge, where he was a Choral Scholar. Working as a concert soloist and ensemble singer, Francis specialises in Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, performing with leading early music groups across the UK and Europe. He is also a keen recitalist, having recently been part of the RNCM Songsters programme and a finalist in the Ashburnham English Song Awards. Francis studies voice with Mary Plazas.

Francis is thrilled to be joining the Manchester Baroque Fellowship scheme in 2026.
