Orin Jacob Syer

Orin Jacob Syer

Manchester Baroque Fellow, Violin

Orin recently completed his Master’s degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he also gained a distinction at Undergraduate level. During his studies he cultivated his long-time interest in baroque music, regularly playing with the Baroque Soloists ensemble and receiving lessons from visiting tutors. His most recent baroque activities have taken him from Holt (in Norfolk) to St Andrews where he attended their respective summer schools, gaining invaluable insight from Rachel Podger, Lucy Russell, Conor Gricmanis, and Steven Devine. Further opportunities to collaborate and learn from musicians of the Brook Street Band also proved to be rewarding.

Orin is also an avid chamber musician and his ensemble, the Sterna Quartet, are proud to be Quartet Studio Associates of the RNCM for the season 2026 – 27. They are grateful to have received tuition from internationally renowned musicians of the Brodsky, Castalian, Elias, and Novo quartets, and the Paddington Trio.

Commencing in September 2026, Orin is excited to purse his part time studies on the violin with Marco Fiorentini at the Accademia Internazionale di Musica in Rome, Italy.
