Handel's Messiah

  • Manchester Cathedral Victorial Street Manchester, M3 1SX United Kingdom (map)

A festive classic, join Manchester Baroque and Manchester Cathedral Choir for an evening you won't forget.

The only Messiah in Manchester performed on historical instruments, hear this incredible music played by the forces Handel composed for in 1741.

A fan of the Italian Opera, as the genre began to fall out of favour, Handel pioneered the English Oratorio - a concert performance, in English, with soloists performing character roles.

Messiah was Handel's sixth oratorio and became his best know work. The famous 'Hallelujah Chorus' has featured in TV and film - we guarantee you'll recognise it even if this is your first Messiah.
