Join us to celebrate the 300th anniversary of Bach’s seminal St Matthew Passion, first performed on Good Friday at the Thomas Kirche in Leipzig in 1727. Written for two orchestras, two choirs and soloists, the scale of the work gives the piece a striking and monumental impact; yet equally often the music is also tender, emotive and beautifully exquisite. Following the biblical story of the final days of Jesus, the power and emotion of the music is such that it can be enjoyed by believers and non-believers alike.
